the issue of finances obviously weighs a lot on our minds. and as we all know, raising a family is a very expensive proposition. but do men feel more pressure to succeed in society?

i was raised in a single-income family myself. it's only lately that i've come to realise the enormity of the responsibility that my dad has willingly undertaken. providing for the basic necessities is a daunting task in itself. not to mention the little, and not-so-little, extras.

personally, i feel that this places undue stress on a marriage or on any type of relationship. i, for one, wouldn't expect any man to provide for me for this very reason. i'd rather have an equal partnership, sharing all the responsibilities.

but how do you feel? do women expect to be taken care of? and how do men these days really feel about being the breadwinner?

green grin, LOL.

in this day and age, i would still want the guy to earn enough to support the family. not that i dont want to work, but i want to be assured that in case i die (knock on wood) he can take care of the family financially.

i for one, will not get married unless i know that i can provide for my family without my husband's help. this may sound too arrogant but i know how important it is for a woman to be able to earn enough money to sustain a family. (because if the man dies, the woman will have to rely on herself to support her children)

as for equal financial responsibility? if i had the choice i would want the man to pay for everything. :) (just to make the man feel more secure about himself. i've heard this argument already and it is a very idyllic setting especially if the woman earns a lot more than the man.)
