what soap or facial wash can you recommend for extremely oily face. i've used a lot of facial wash and soap already yet, it becomes so oily in 2-3 hours time. i've tried washing my face each hour but i'm frightened that it might do my skin no good. and besides when i am at the office i can't afford to keep on washing my face. what can you recommend?

Putting up foundation or baby powder on your face will do. :)

civichonda,
improving your skin is a multi-step process.
1. get enuff sleep. personal experience ko na pag nagpupuyat ako, my tzone and scalp get really oily
2. tama ka, don't wash too often. tama na yung twice a day. washing more than necessary only induces your face to produce more oil.
3. you can try neutrogena or nu skin face wash, toner, and moisturizer. hydrate your skin para it doesn't think na kailangan niya magproduce ng oil.
it will take a few weeks para mag-improve yan, so just make tiis na muna. if you want to get nu skin products send me a p.m. not to sound like an ad pero their toner and moisturizer improved my skin a lot and lumiit pores ko :)

I use Cetaphil Soap (yung bar not yung liquid form)... It works for me sobra. I used to have oily skin but when I tried this, I've to put na moisturizer at night.
Or if this still doesnt work, try egg-yolk mask twice a week. Otey?
Tapos, you buy those OIL FILMS (Gatsby or Clean&Clear) available at cosmetic shops or even at groceries para you don't need to wash your face too often.

one more thing, try PEX's search engine to view related links.. I bet there are numerous threads about this on Travel & Lifestyle and What's Up Doc...

Depends on how sensitive your skin is.
I use 3-step Clinique products. No complains; never heard others complain either.
Don't think price has something to do with effectiveness of a certain product. Try some cheaper and readily available products in your area. Some find these products very effective: Noczema, Phisohex, Phisoderm, Clear skin, and even our very own Eskinol. My best friend, btw, LOVES Hiyas papaya soap.
Be patient and wait for the result. Good luck!

Actually, I don't know. My mom's dermatologist says that the liquid form can cause oily skin. I've tried both: yung liquid form, ok lang but then I feel na parang my face isn't fresh and clean when I use it (ewan ko kung psychological na ito).. then I tried the bar soap, ok din sya.. I kinda like bubbles on my face para feeling mas fresh.
Anyway, yung bar form doesn't make my skin oily.
civichonda, another thing... don't wash your face too often kasi your face needs moisture din. If you wash everytime, your skin secretes more oil. Kaya there's a reason why dermatologists recommend to wash your face only thrice a day! ;)

you can use facial absorbent paper...
washing your face more than 2x a day would make your face greasier.
cetaphil skin cleanser and acne aid soap are fine.

what about just washing your face with water???

Oil and water don't mix. So just washing your face with water won't remove the oil.

Except for the foundation and baby powder, the other suggestions are basically "non-kikay" naman and can be done by guys, diba? ;)
Basically, you have to have good facial hygiene. You can use the different products suggested, or plain old soap. Just don't overdo it.
You can also use the facial blotters by Gatsby or Clean and Clear during the day. They just absorb the oil when you rub it on the face. If you're too embarrassed to use it in public places, do as the ladies do...go to the restroom and blot your face there, kahit sa loob pa ng cubicle, since you don't need a mirror for this. :)

the more you touch your face (e.g washing, etc.) the more you'll get oily skin. one effective way to fix that is to simply wash your face with water once or twice a day only. in time bababa din yung oil secretion mo.

and i think moisturizers would add more moisture (i.e. oil) to your face...
ako, my nose gets kinda oily pagdating ng afternoon... icky... so i have to wash my face with water nga lang... but as someone said up there, water doesn't work...
is it weird? kasi usually, T-zone ang maapektuhan nito, di ba? bakit sa akin, nose lang?
im using clean n clear facial wash + toner... is it enough? or should i add the moisturizer?

dove facial wash works for me, before kase after i take a bath or maghilamos, mga after 10 minutes i have to put powder on my face kase it gets oily, tapos nung first time ko ginamit yung dove, half-day na yung lumipas tsaka ko lang napansin na di pa ko nagpopowder kase hindi pa nagooily yung face ko ;)
(grabe... i feel like i'm in one of those crazy dove commercials! he!he! pero it's true ):D

Try using The Body Shop's Mattifier. The price may be jaw-dropping(P480 for a really small tube) but it's really effective.
