Do you have dry, chapped lips? What kind of Lip Balm or Lip Moisturizer do you use? Scented or Unscented? Flavored or Unflavored? Mint or Fruity? Anything goes... no lipstick please

I get really dry lips and I'm also a really vain guy. I think it might be the weather and also the fact that I smoke. My favorite lip balms are...

Vaseline LIP THERAPY - the best! either unscented or cherry flavor is fine. good summer lip balm.

CARMEX - you can only get this in the states, but it's really good, especially for wind burn in the winter.

SOFT LIPS - the one in the white, long, and thin container. it's really good too. i love the strawberry flavor. though, i try not to carry it so much cos it looks too girly.

MAC LIP GLASS - i put very little on top of my lips that has lip balm already. it's sticky.

WORST...

BLISTEX - I feel like my lips has a new layer every time I use it. it makes them even more chapped for some reason.

DCT

BODY SHOP LIP BALM - its more of lip flavor rather than a lip balm

Ei, I've heard na di daw maganda ang petroleum for the lips, mas maganda daw ang beeswax. Ako naman mukhang mas ok ang beeswax kse hndi ganon ka glossy at mas matagal mawala.

i love this!! ;) pati rin yung cranberry flavour. i also love THe Body Shop's new lip glosser, the green apple flavoured one. it works for me, NYUkid :)

tapos there's this cherry twist lipshine that my best friend gave me...she bought it at Gap, super nice ng color and feel sa lips.

i also use Vaseline's lip therapy in cherry flavour, and there's also Nivea lip care, the classic and rose ones...i also wanna try the pearl one.

hmm....wanna try kiehl's lip balm #1...i've been hearing so much about it...:)

Try the Neutrogena Norweigian Formula lotion which looks like petroleum Jelly. ("Just a dab is all you need")... besides multitasking to soften your elbows, hands, you can put it on your lips (leeeeetle amount lang)... and it's not bad tasting either. Instantly SOFT lips ... not glossy ha... just natural softness. I use it also as a pre-lipstick, pre-lip gloss prep, cause as we know, lip gloss or lipstick on dry lips (with nakasabit pa na flakes) is not a pretty sight.

AESOP - Cosmetics philosophy

Aesop is a registered trademark of the Melbourne-based company Emeis Cosmetics Pty Ltd. which was established in 1987 as an alternative beauty system for thinking men and women. The unique range of more than thirty skin, hair and body preparations, represented in fine stores around the world. Aesop was conceptualised and developed by Dennis Paphitis, a pioneer in the use of plant-based preparations for the treatment and balancing of skin, scalp and hair.

Says Paphitis, "For fourteen years we have intensively focused on developing a succinct, intelligent and highly effective range of home-use preparations. We do not subscribe to mainstream cosmetic notions of airbrushed beauty. Aesop's skin products claim only to cleanse, balance and hydrate, in the most abstinent way. Each preparation in the range consists of a tripartite, synergistic blend of plant extracts that addresses specific imbalances and conditions through composition."

Each preparation consists of a blend that addresses… its composition.

Plant and vegetable extracts provide the primary basis for our entire range, which addresses a plethora of skin and scalp conditions. Where deemed necessary, minimal amounts of validated man-made preservatives are used, in tandem with the inherent botanical preservation of plant extracts.

Despite remarkable advances in science and in the beauty industry, we believe that well-being and external beauty are ultimately a result of a healthy diet, moderate exercise and consistent attention to, and protection of, the skin. The first positive step to fabulous skin is to choose products that work with the skin. Skin and plants have a very similar chemical composition, so plant by-products have a wonderful physiological affinity with the skin. One cleanser, one hydrating cream and one weekly treatment product is all that we prescribe for the skin's thorough maintenance. All Aesop facial preparations are designed for use from forehead to cleavage.

A holistic and realistic approach to skin maintenance will help you realise your skin's maximum potential. Skin has a predetermined resilience that relates to hereditary, hormonal and genetic factors. Diet, climate and environment are external factors that play havoc with the skin and that must be considered as part of the total equation. Any change of product usage should coincide with a dietary and lifestyle review. After all, the most significant cleansing should take place internally, through an appropriate diet.

Aesop preparations should be used in full within three months of first opening. Beyond this time we recommend refrigerated storage. Always store product away from direct light and humidity.

Also, please note that by utilising plants in their primary state, we create preparations that are reflective of the current season's crops. As with fine wine, the harvesting and distillation of plants will vary from year to year. We consider this phenomenon an inherent feature of our range, and we do not endeavour to synthetically disguise nature's seasonal idiosyncrasies. You may note subtle scent shifts, colour and texture changes, which all link back to our puritanical and highly diligent approach to product preparation. Aesop will not chemically or cosmetically disguise natural plant-derived colour or scent in order to match an earlier production batch. Our focus is premium product efficacy, sensory pleasure and a celebration of the season's harvest.

Samples of most products are available for trial prior to purchasing. We recommend that product is first sampled on your wrist to ensure skin compatibility. In the unlikely event of an adverse reaction to any Aesop product, discontinue use and consult an Aesop consultant or your Medical Practitioner.

Since my last post I've been obsessed with lip balms, so I've been using and buying different ones. So far I have:

Rosebud Smith (very good, lips feel soft)
Rosebud Strawberry (even better with flavor)
Kiehl's Balm # 1
JingJang-highly recommended to me but haven't used mine yet
Perfurmeria Gal- Liquid Balm in Red Currant (bit sticky)
Agatha Ruiz dela Prada- Raspberry (good flavor, you want to eat it)
Santa Maria Novella lip balm- a bit like beeswax and so expensive
Burt's Bees-good
Caudalie lip theraphy- haven't tried mine yet but bought it in Paris
Vaseline-very very good
imx cosmetics- lip gloss (lip gloss with tint, and you can pick your flavor, mine is birthday cake and taste like icing)
Prada shielding lip balm- a favorite but can be a get a little sticky

I have about 3 lip balms in my purse right now, I can't stop buying them.

Hi ewanko2, I'm such a lip balm addict as well. Just like you, I have 3 different kinds of lip balm in my bag. Here are my favorites.

1. Lancome Vinefit Leveres - Expensive but worth it. It's green and tastes fruity, and it leaves a nice shine.

2. Biotherm - Creamy but a really nice lip moisturizer. You need just a small amount to give enough coverage.

3. Nivea Lip Care - I like this one too but the only thing that turns me off is that it looks like lipstick.

4. Carmex - Really nice for chapped lips and wind burn. I love the smell too.

5. Vaseline Lip Therapy - I love the original and cherry flavor.

6. Lush Lip Service - Creamy too, but just as nice. The only thing I don't like about it is that it makes my lips feel thick.

The lip balm I use depends on the weather. OA diba? But really, it's all about the skin and moisturized lips :)

Anybody ever heard of Ilog Maria? It's that nice bee farm in Tagaytay that sells all these products made from honey/pollen/beeswax derivatives.

Their LIP BALM is the most fabulous!!!! Tastes good. Your lips heal fast. Sells for P50. Going natural is THe thing these days. The place is worth a visit. If not, check out <www.ilogmaria.com>. Their products are HOT items in Japan.

I can't say enough good things about Avon's lip balm...i got the SpongeBob one in Cherry...SOOO good...I don't need to wear lipstick b/c it has a rosy tint, makes lips SUPER soft and yummy...

I like Softlips too b/c it doesn't feel tacky...but right now, I'm loving off my SpongeBob lip balm

big lip balm fan here! absolutely love...
-Nivea lip care in cherry
-Burt's Bees beeswax lipbalm
-Lip smacker in watermellon

Also have carmex, eucerin and burt's bees with spf which sucks because the white tint turns your lips purple. I tried the Neutrogena Norwegian formula (just a dab...) and it really works. Weird lang ang lasa but it's good to apply at night.

Forgot to mention that I also Clinique All About Lips which is loaded with silicone to give your lips a smooth, wrinkle-free finish. It's not a lip balm but simply a base coat. Gives your lips a weird, super soft feeling that is quite unnatural.

Ei, I've heard na di daw maganda ang petroleum for the lips, mas maganda daw ang beeswax. Ako naman mukhang mas ok ang beeswax kse hndi ganon ka glossy at mas matagal mawala.

I agree! right now I'm using burt's bees kasi from what I've read in the internet:

Petrolatum — I see this on lip products from time to time, which is humorous to me because they're usually advertised as protecting the lips from sunburn, chapping and so forth. Petrolatum is mineral oil jelly, and mineral oil causes a lot of problems when used on the skin photosensitivity (i.e., promotes sun damage), and it tends to interfere with the body's own natural moisturizing mechanism, leading to dry skin and chapping. You are being sold a product that creates the very conditions it claims to alleviate. Manufacturers use petrolatum because it is unbelievably cheap...

my god! i have probably tried all kinds of lip balms! hehehe..glossy, fruity, with tint, without tint, medicated, etc ahahhaha. But among them , I think the best one is with SPF and non glossy. Dont be mistaken with lipbalm and LIP GLOSS. lip balm is to heal and relieve chapped, dry lips while lip gloss is just glossy, unless they say otherwise like its a lip gloss with beeswax or that kind of ingredient.

I don't think you can really make your lips look thinner but the glossier your lips are, the fuller they will look. What I can recommend are Blistex lip balms, they look natural and they're really good at keeping your lips supple. Almost all the variants have SPF15... Oh and since you're a guy don't go for the "Lip Tone" variant though, it's a little tinted and you may look gay :p

(No offense to gay people, I just assumed that Ferrari25 won't be going for the look that Blistex Lip Tone will give)

I have very dry lips as a result of being on some medication. most lip balms kasi usually leave a layer of wax but the lips don't really soften. I've found that the Neutrogena Norweigan formula lotion works very well (it's a hand lotion). You just dab a small amount on your lips and it absorbs easily (no waxy feel).

For me, Kiehl's Lip balm has something nice compared to other lip balms around. Their Lip balm, though guys and gals can apply it, but this would be more of favor to guys. Men doesn't want to have a shiny lips when applying a lip balm. Kiehl's Lip balm when applied, it shines for a few minutes, then it won't shine unlike other lip balms, which bothers a lot for a guy. The purpose of a lip balm especially to men is to prevent chapping of lips and not to make it shine all the time (lol)....

yeah meron. they have other flavors like mint. they have other two flavors i just forgot the names, but mint is by far the best flavored lip balm. at first, it may look shiny, but in a few minutes, it won't shine that much. though they have a lip balm that once you've applied it, it won't shine - that is Kiehl's Facial Fuel Lip Balm. For females who wants to have a shiny lip balm, they also have it as well. FYI, "Facial Fuel" products of Kiehl's are especially made for men....

my cuz sent me a tube of molton brown lip balm from london and paubos na sya. i don't know if it will ever be sold here. it's THE BEST i've tried. better than khiel's.

burt's bees is a runner-up
ilog maria is good, too.

I haven't heard of Molton but yes, Burt's bees is good. Better than Kiehl's IMO.

I have Kiehl's and i totally hate it becoz my lips are still parched after using it for sometime now a month na, everyday, wa epek talaga, i have to reapply again and again pa) and is expensive for it's category. Buti pa yung Godiva and Chapstick. Cheap but effective for me. once lang ang application for me that lasts for hours.

I have like 5 different lip balm as of the moment, lagi ko kasi nawawala, lalo na yung chapstick, never pa ako nakaubos nun lagi siya nawawala but I must have at least 1 lip balm in my pocket everytime I go out. Parang I feel awkward without it, weird.

Carmex - This is my favorite. I like the menthol feeling in the lips. Dyahe nga lang mag-apply kapag sa jar, lalo na pag nasa layasan kasi syempre I have to make sure that I have clean fingers before applying it. Medyo tipid din ako dito, kasi baka wala ako mahanap dito sa Pinas kapag naubos na siya. The last time I saw a carmex here ay nung binili ko yung akin 2 years ago. oo 2 years na ang carmex at halos kalahati pa lang siya.

Godiva - This one I use before going to sleep. Ok lang. It was supposed to make your lips lighter or pinkish but I don't know, I see no to minimal difference

Nivea cherry - Sira sira na yung lalagyan ko nito, nalabhan pa sa washing machine (It was in my jeans, I forgot to take the thing out) lol. Nag-iba na yung texture and the moisturizing effect doesn't last very long, siguro dahil nga sa tubig but I still use it (sayang naman e hehe) when I go out kasi kahit paano meron siyang tint.

Born lippy melon - ang sarap ng amoy, but it feels a little "heavy" on the lips, it's ok, parang gusto ko nga lang lagi siyang kainin.

hawaiian tropic aloe vera spf 45 - ewan ko, pang-beach lang ata ito. Nakalagay pa nga sa directions na you can also apply it to your nose, ears and other sun sensitive areas lol. Hindi naman ako nagbeach for a very long time, binili ko lang to dahil sa spf niya. Anyway, eto ang lip balm na hindi ko masyado nagagamit. Lasa siyang coconut oil, naaalala ko ang probinsya namain dahil don hehe and although it's waterproof it doesn't last very long.

Gusto ko sana ma-try yung Burt's bees, san po ba nakakakita nun?

I'm using Kiehl's Facial Fuel Lip Balm. It's actually a no-shine lip balm, very suitable for men. So far it worked for me....

i started using lip balm when I used to work for a call center. chapped lips are not good when youre talking all the time. Now im in the middle east and the drastic weather changes makes my lips more susceptible to chapping/cracking. These are my faves:

carmex (cant find it here in dubai, bought mine in First Aid at Greenbelt)
molton brown (its a UK brand, their shower washes and lotions are also good but expensive)
MAC lip conditioner (you can choose from clear or tinted)
palmer's (cheap but good)
rosebud salve (hard to find, always out of stock)

Best one is Burt's Bees :D

Not only does it moisturize but also brings out color for your lips unlike others who tend to make them pale. It also tastes good.

^325.00, i think.

i've used Godiva's lip gloss and it's not recommended for guys though the promise of moisturizing your lips is just factual and am now using Blistex Lip Tone. It conceals the paleness of your lips, in case you do have. I actually brush my lips with my toothbrush (just dont brush it as hard as you do on your teeth), this I learned from a model and it actually works for me. At night time, after brushing your lips, apply Vaseline petroleum jelly and let it sit then wipe it off in the morning.

Nivea ok sana cause it has a little tint, pero it tends to dry my lip. I use Carmex now, stick form. Back in college, my fave was Blistex Lip Tone, smells great plus the tint enhances the natural lip color :)

Esteé Lauder is a good brand. it's mild and it really makes the lips soft without making it feel oily and weird
