Hi guys!

Just curious -- has anyone ever tried one of these? And is there a place in Manila that does this?

Thanks!

I get a bikini wax sa Quezon City Sports Club, pero never pa Brazilian. According to the waxer, may mga nagawa na siyang Brazilian, and okay naman daw kinalabasan.

Does waxing minimize ingrown hairs? Is it better for the bikini line than shaving?

It's definitely better than shaving, pero may ingrown hairs pa rin. Btw, san sa Acropolis ang The Spa?

Thanks!

How much do they usually charge for it? And do any of the places you mentioned offer the Playboy bikini wax?

Try Emphasis Salon in Rockwell. :) I haven't tried it (but I want to!) -- it costs around P950 if I'm not mistaken.

In a brazilian wax, they remove hair along the sides of the privates as well as hair that crawls below the privates and up to the top of the a-ss.

The ordinary bikini wax, you just trim off or wax off a small area. The Brazilian bikini wax assumes that you're going to be wearing one of those teeny-tiny Brazilian bikinis, so you wax off a larger area.

I've heard of three types of the Brazilian. One is the regular Brazilian, where they wax off hair in front only, but they leave a strip in the middle, or an inverted triangle, if that's what you want.

The second is called the Playboy bikini wax -- you wax off a large part in front, leaving a strip down the middle or an inverted triangle, PLUS you wax off all hair on the labia. And I think you have an option to wax off hair on your, er, anus.

The third one, you wax everything off -- front, hair on the labia, and hair on the anus. Ouch!

Wala nga eh, which makes it worse! Kaka-try ko lang in one of the spas here in SoCal. I think I have a relatively high tolerance for pain naman pero ang sakit pa rin! But I would recommend it to anyone because the results are definitely worth it! A thousand times better than shaving!

i've tried it.. this might sound a bit odd, but my bf did it for me, since we couldn't find any salon that offers such a service at that time (they used to give me weird looks when i ask em).

anyways, i taught him how by lettin him practice on my legs.. it was so damn painful!!!! the anal area is the part where it hurts the least.. taking a couple of pain relievers an hour before the procedure would really help..

i read in a magazine that emphasis salon offers it for P800. m gonna go there next next week before i go to boracay w my bf.. balitaan ko nalang kayo.. :p

I've tried and very happy with the results!!!

I went to Emphasis Salon and it costs P800. I know it sounds like it's a lot for a waxing job that you have to have re-done every 3-4 weeks but believe me when you've seen the results, you'd want to continue having it done.

It feels great! it makes you feel really sexy, na tipo bang gusto mo agad mag-panic buying ng thongs! hehehe. it ups your self-confidence...i duno but that's what it did for me. but yes it's really painful din, not to mention, sobrang kakahiya! hehehe. pero you'll get over the hiya naman once you start talking to the lady (or wonder waxer!). because they're very professional people naman.

I really recommend it to everyone who is curious and willing to give it a try. ive always wanted to try it but none of my friends wanted to come with me then finally i just took the courage to just get it over with and i'm completely pleased with it! GOod luck!!! :)

The first time you get a Brazillian will always be memorable but, provided you have a good beauty therapist, the discomfort only lasts about fifteen minutes then you're hair free for at least six weeks.

Brazillian Wax = Completely BARE

One of the things I like best about Brazilian waxes is that when the hair starts to grow back, it's not itchy, unlike when you shave. Also, it makes me feel really confident, sort of like the feeling you get when you're wearing really nice lingerie -- you don't have to flash it around, but it makes you feel good about yourself anyway. :D

This is waaaay off topic, but gurl, you're boyfriend's a keeper! :beam: Good for you!

I don't think even my mom and sister would do that for me. :-)

I've been wanting to have a bikini wax since forever but the only thing holding me off is the embarassment! Isn't it super diyahe to have someone wax you err, down under? But i'm super tempted to go to Emphasis Salon now, never mind if it's a i'l bit pricey.

SuGarPluMBeAvEr: thanks for the input :) it validates what i've observed these past few weeks ... ever since i've devoted more time to scrubbing problem areas & making sure i do it in circular motion i noticed that the occurence of ingrown hair became less & old ingrowns were relieved :beam:

In grown hairs are less of a prblem with Brazillians. They do happen, but less frequently than with shaving. The itch factor of re-grwoth is minimised but when you're wearing tight underwear and you have stubble it get's a little itchy. After that though it's fine.

I know what you mean! I felt the same way when I was going for my first Brazilian wax. Gusto ko nang mag-u-turn talaga, but I figured... what the heck. And those people are probably used to seeing.... er, those things. Just put on a brave face, think "what the hell" and go for it! :D

Below is the site nga pala where I got initial info on the Brazilian wax:
